As we close out another successful fraternal year and look forward to the new
opportunities that lie ahead, it’s unequivocal that the Stamford Alumni Chapter of Kappa
Alpha Psi Fraternity (“SAC”) is making a positive difference in the community. A
cornerstone of this community activism was evident in the successful Achievement
Weekend – held June 24-26th. As with previous Achievement Weekends, this 3-day
event continues to galvanize the community while at the same time, strengthens the
Bond of our chapter.
Beginning with the “after work” social gathering on Friday, Brothers actively
fellowshipped with each other and invited guests while “rocking to the beat” of the DJ at
Bradford’s. On Saturday morning, the epitome of why we give back to the community
was on full display with the Dream Builder’s Breakfast. As a highlight of the
Achievement Weekend, we partnered with Domus and the staff at Chester Addison
Community Center to pull together a stellar panel to discuss academic success. The
fifty-five attendees (including forty youths) were very engaged and appreciative of the
content of the discussions. From there, Brothers gathered for our traditional “Kappa
Kookout” at Barrett Field in Stamford. The true essence of our Brotherhood,
camaraderie, and unity was captured at this fraternal year-end celebration.
Later on Saturday night, the weather was in full cooperative mode as we ate, mingled,
and danced on the roof top of Sign of the Whale. This festive “White Linen” affair
definitely put a successful stamp on the Achievement Weekend. We concluded our
scheduled activities by gathering at Union Baptist Church for worship service. As
customary, we provided a heartfelt donation on behalf of SAC to Union Baptist for their
youth educational programs.
